Lower Olifants Network for IWRM (LORIN)

AWARD has been working with stakeholders to build capacity and foster collaborative relationships in the lower Olifants.

The proposed network would meet to discuss and act on such issues and support the Catchment Management Forums (CMFs).

The inaugural meeting, held in November 2018, identified a number of key issues for action, for example:

Urgent need for compliance monitoring and enforcement (CME) by DWS

  • Urgent need for Validation and Verification (V&V)
  • Drought restrictions and clear processes and responsibilities in future
  • Institutional arrangements to ensure all water users are affiliated
