Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) has been accepted internationally as a paradigm for integrative and sustainable management of water resources. One constraint however is the lack of integrative decision-support systems (DSS) for good governance. In response, AWARD has developed an Integrated Water Resources Decision Support System (INWARDs) for the Olifants River Catchment which is being used to train various stakeholders such as DWS, the proto-Catchment Management Agency/ DWS and SanParks. With the objective of shifting away from the traditional silo style management, the INWARDs platform is a collection of frameworks, tools and models designed to integrate multiple factors related to water resources management.
